2econd Chance offers adults living with social, emotional and mental health needs, physical or learning disabilities work-based training in the IT sector. Working in partnership with referral organisations across north London we provide a bespoke supported training programme designed to foster an increased sense of self-belief and confidence through the development of practical skills. Supported by our team, trainees will complete 40 to 60 hours of hands-on training matched to their ability, focused on the fundamentals of computer hardware and software management. At the end of the programme, trainees are given the opportunity to put their newfound skills into practice. Working under supervision trainees upcycle donated machines which are then sold to fund the ongoing training programme.
We have recently put in application for charity status to that we can continue to grow our training provision.
Meet some the trainees
My work coach at the Job Centre suggested I join the 2econd Chance training programme because I am into computers and enjoy working with my hands. It is a unique place to come and what I like most is that every week is different. As well as learning new things I am also being reminded me skills I haven’t used in a long time.
I was doing a computing class at Community Focus which had the objective of learning a new skill and taking it into the community. Phil, the teacher thought 2econd Chance would be the right next step for me as it is a relaxed environment where you are supported to learn new things.
I enjoy working with computers and am fully IT literate so my support worker at Kisharon suggested the training programme at 2econd Chance. It is a vibrant atmosphere where everybody learns from each other and is an environment I have never experienced before.
