We are a new computer recycling social enterprise offering a variety of services to our clients including free computer removal, WEEE certified data destruction and affordable refurbished computers

We are strong believers in creating positive change through business and provide training and employment to people with learning disabilities. In this way we are able to give your computer, and a person with learning disabilities, a second chance.

"I am 37 years old and have learning disabilities and a deformed hand. I have found it extremely hard to get a job because of this. Now I have been given an amazing opportunity to work at Second Chance. It has given me a new sense of purpose and a chance to get on with my life. I feel more worthwhile. Finally, I am of use to society! Adam"

Apart from providing our clients with a great service, we have three core aims:

Meaningful training and employment

We believe people feel more worthwhile if they are able to fully participate in the world of work. We organise free training in PC maintenance and repairs (NVQ level 2) for our trainees and offer all our graduates the possibility to progress on to further training or to work with us.

Bridge the digital divide

We provide affordable technology for those that need it most. As we grow we aim to give away free at least 20% of our refurbished computers. We are proud partners of a Laptop Library, a shared initiative between Community Recycling and 2econd Chance.

Reduce waste

We aim to help prevent as many computers as we can handle from ever reaching landfill. It is estimated that, in the UK alone, we dispose of over 2 million tonnes of electronic waste each year. We can help reduce this by giving computers a second chance. The need for this has never been greater.

We pride ourselves on our comprehensive and trustworthy services, including:

WEEE certified /ICO Registered data destruction

We aim to give our clients complete peace of mind that their data has been irretrievably erased. We are registered with the Environment Agency to carry out the repair or refurbishment of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) and with the ICO (Information Commissioners Office) to ensure current compliance with the data protection act.

We issue Environment Agency and GDPR compliant paperwork including Duty of Care notices and Certificates of Data Destruction, including make, model and serial number of the hard drive. This ensures legal responsibility for all data is transferred to us.

For now we are able to offer a full data sanitation service, allowing us to give your computer a second life, and are hoping to expand our service to physical destruction of hard drives in the near future.

Free computer removal

We offer a free computer removal service for our customers for 10 items or more. We accept any make or model of desktop, laptop, tablet or keyboard. In future we hope to expand this to a comprehensive IT removal service to act as a one stop shop for our clients.

Affordable Refurbished Computers

Buying a refurbished computer is both good for your pocket and good for the planet. We offer a 6 month guarantee on all of our computers. Please go to our shop to see our available machines.

Coming soon! We are in the process of building our online shop where we will sell computers at affordable prices.
